Evening Primrose, Onagra

Flowers, leaves and roots edible. The flowers make a wonderful and sweet syrup! The roots are delicious and crunchy with a creamy texture at the same time. Best harvested in the early spring of their second year. Biennial, Zones 3 to 9. Self-seeds readily, so behaves like a perennial. This seed requires cold stratification to germinate. Sow in autumn directly in the ground, or in pots outdoors during the winter. Alternatively, keep the seeds in the refrigerator for at least two months, then sow in spring in pots or directly in the ground.
