Stunningly beautiful ornamental which can be pruned into looking like a life-sized bonsai! Among the first blooms of spring! This tree should be in our vegetable section, because the young leaves, young seed pods, unopened flower buds and mature seeds are all edible. The unopened flower buds can be pickled and used as capers and the mature seeds can be roasted! This seed requires cold stratification to germinate. Sow in autumn directly in the ground, or in pots outdoors during the winter. Alternatively, keep the seeds in the refrigerator for at least two months, then sow in spring in pots or directly in the ground. This seed requires cold stratification to germinate.
