American Mountain-ash is a native fruiting tree found naturally throughout Eastern Canada, along with parts of the U.S. portion of the Carolinian Zone. It is valued both for its ornamental beauty and its ecological role, providing food and habitat for birds and other wildlife.

The tree produces clusters of bright red berries in late summer and fall, each berry about the size of a pea. These berries are edible for wildlife and can also be used to make preserves or jellies. When laden with fruit, the tree is especially striking in the landscape, adding vibrant colour to gardens and natural areas.

American Mountain-ash grows well from seed and, like many native trees, produces genetically diverse offspring, so each seedling is unique in growth habit and fruiting characteristics.

Sowing instructions:
Seeds benefit from cold stratification. Sow outdoors in late fall or use a winter sowing method. Germination typically occurs the following spring. Young seedlings establish best with careful planting and adequate space to grow.

At least 25 seeds per packet.
