Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus)
They are especially well suited to naturalistic and pollinator-friendly gardens, where they bloom generously with very little care. Cosmos also make excellent cut flowers and can help fill gaps in young perennial plantings while longer-lived species establish.
Cosmos are particularly easy to start in small pots and transplant into the garden once established. They also root readily from stem cuttings, making them a simple and rewarding plant to multiply and share.
Planting instructions:
Direct sow after the last frost, or start indoors 3–4 weeks earlier. Seeds germinate quickly in warm soil. Cosmos prefer full sun and average, well-drained soil and often thrive even in relatively poor soils. Fall sowing is also possible in milder climates for earlier blooms the following year.
Seed count:
At least 25 seeds per packet.
